Rarely the child who bullies will have the initiative of asking for help by himself. But usually someone follows this direction on his own initiative.
This has to be taken into consideration always when offering support and the main initial and necessary goal is:
TO PREPARE THE CHILD TO LISTEN
Otherwise the support offered is in “danger” of remaining a theory.
In order to prepare the child to listen:
● we recognize his eventual unwillingness to cooperate
● we allow him to express himself freely without criticizing him
● we focus on the child who is talking and not the other child (the one who is bullied)
● we show honest concern for him
● we explain to him the phenomenon and declare our availability to discuss about what is happening
The next steps are the children to:
● be aware of their deed
●assume individual responsibility
●feel empathy
● understand the motives of their deed, which are mostly caused by domestic factors
